Why use a rice cooker?
We all appreciate state-of-the-art kitchen appliances that promise to save us precious time in preparing small dishes in the kitchen.
But why invest in a rice cooker? Is it just another gadget? Any private individual or catering professional with a pan and water is largely capable of making rice in 10 to 15 minutes, you might say! So why spend 40€ or 200€ on an electric rice cooker? All the information you need to know is just below.
Why use the electric rice cooker?
So no, the rice cooker is not a gadget. If it is true that preparing rice is within everyone reach, if you consume rice on a daily basis, or if you own a restaurant, a brasserie, an establishment where rice is one of the main components of your dishes, the rice cooker will make your life much easier, I promise!
Simply pour in your rice with the recommended amount of water, close the lid, press a button, and unlike traditional cooking, the cuiseur de riz will take care of everything for you. No more need to control the cooking, to watch the pot on the fire, the overflowing water, the risk of burning, the cooking surface to be cleaned, the spinning of the rice,... All this will be a distant memory!
In addition to the promise of rice cooked to perfection in minutes, the rice cooker will ensure even and consistent cooking after each cooking cycle. No more risk of overcooking or serving raw rice!
In addition, the appliance also has a keep warm function for rice after cooking, so that the rice is always ready to be served. The steam cooking system will also cook all kinds of meat, fish and vegetables placed in the cooking baskets.
How to use a rice cooker?
Nothing could be easier! And this is where the advantage lies.
Measure the amount of rice with the measuring glass supplied with each professional rice coocker and pour the rice into the cooker. Just pour in the amount of water needed for the rice and close the lid. Turn on the rice cooker until it automatically switches to the "keep warm" mode. And there you have it, perfectly cooked, non-sticky rice ready to serve!
It is possible to use the rice cooker for steaming. For this purpose, the basket must be used. Vegetables are particularly suitable for steaming, as their nutritional values are better preserved when steamed than with other types of cooking.
| Vegetables | Amount of water | Steaming time |
| Cabbage, carrots, peas | 1 glass | 15 minutes |
| Asparagus, spinach, red and brown beans | 1 glass | 15 minutes |
| Zucchinis | 1 glass | 10 minutes |
